           JMM Medical....Active scars may appear to be indented, raised up above the surrounding tissue, feel hard or lumpy, are discolored (red, pink, purple, darker than the normal surrounding tissue). The unassisted process of maturing this type of scar may take from 1 to 30 years. Clinical studies indicate that topical silicone preparations such as ScarLess Generation III Topical Gel have been shown to significantly shorten the process of maturing scar tissue in up to 90% of the cases studied.
